Overview
Quick Notes is a browser extension that allows you to take notes while browsing the web. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
Data Storage
All notes you create are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. Your note content is never transmitted to external servers.
What We Store Locally
- Notes content: The text you write in your notes
- Timestamps: When each note was created
- Page URL: The website where you created the note
- Tags, folders, and colors: Organization metadata
- Reminder times: If you set a reminder for a note
- Settings: Your preferences (theme, statistics enabled/disabled)
Anonymous Usage Statistics
To help improve Quick Notes, the extension may collect anonymous usage statistics:
- Device ID: A randomly generated identifier (not linked to your identity)
- Browser type: Chrome, Edge, Brave, etc.
- Language: Your browser language setting
- Screen resolution: e.g., 1920x1080
- Timezone: Your system timezone
Note content is NOT collected. Only anonymous device metadata is transmitted.
You can disable statistics at any time in the extension settings.
Smart Redirects
The extension may receive URL redirect rules to help fix broken links (e.g., when a website moves content to a new URL). These rules are applied using Chrome's declarativeNetRequest API and only affect navigation, not page content.
Permissions Explained
- storage: Save notes and settings locally
- host_permissions (all URLs): Display the floating notes button on all websites
- alarms: Trigger reminder notifications
- notifications: Show reminder alerts
- activeTab: Capture current page URL when creating a note
- declarativeNetRequest: Apply URL redirect rules for broken links
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Note content (stays on your device)
- Browsing history
- Passwords or form data
- Cookies from websites

Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. Anonymous statistics are used solely to improve the extension.
Your Rights
- Disable statistics in settings to stop all data transmission
- Delete individual notes at any time
- Export all notes as a JSON file
- Import notes from a backup file
- Remove all data by uninstalling the extension
